I think there are many uses for blogs in the classroom. I want to be a Language Arts teacher and it would be great if every one of my students could create a blog that they could use to do journals. This way they could do them on their own time (I would of course assign a deadline) and I could just quickly check to see if they have been writing. I could also assign each student a partner or two who would have to check each others blogs and comment on what they had written. I think this would help out a lot in class discussions because everyone would be working off each others opinions.

I also think blogs can be useful for just the teacher. They can post their syllabus on their blog and update it when they need to change assignments or the due dates on those assignment. The blog would also be useful to the students who could leave comments when they don't understand something that has been assigned. This way other students could read the comment the student made and the response I have given him or her which could possibly answer a question they might have had on the assignment.

  1. I like your approach of looking at blogging as a tool for both teacher and student(s). Definitely enhances communication ...
